Two-and-a-half weeks after two Israeli soldiers were killed by Palestinian militants linked to the ruling Hamas party, Israeli forces are pushing further into Gaza in search of a third soldier kidnapped that same day. In trying to force the release of Cpl. Gilad Shalit, Israel has tried cutting off power, The Christian Science Monitor says that the Israeli army faces a juggling act: "It wants to make life intolerable enough for someone in the Palestinian leadership to yield, but not so intolerable that international censure will come down on Israel for sparking a humanitarian disaster in Gaza."

Gaza is not alone

Gaza is not ALONE. ALLAH, THE ALMIGHTY is with them. I believe in the power of calling allah and Palestine is in my prayers. our hearts are broking when we are seeing these painful pictures which are full of blood. I want to say that our Arab leaders' reaction doesn't reflect the reaction of their citizens
We feel so sorry about what is happening for our sisters and brothers on Gaza, on individuals, nothing on our hands. What we have is to pray for them. I hope they will win and all these people who killed, they are still alive, they went to a better life, they went to the paradaise.

Gaza

The Gaza Strip is a narrow piece of land along the Mediterranean coast between Israel and Egypt. Just 40km long and 10km wide, it is home to 1.4 million Palestinians and 8,000 Israeli settlers. Most of the Palestinians are refugees or descendants of refugees who fled or were expelled from Israel during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
The settlers moved to Gaza following Israel's occupation of the strip in 1967. Following the 1993 agreement between the Palestinians and Israel about two thirds of the Strip came under Palestinian control. The remaining third is under Israeli control.
